The Mustard Seed Migration Grant program has named St. Paul’s as a recipient for 2021. Each year, recipients receive up to $2,000 to engage in new, one-time community-based service projects focused on refugees and migration. The grant is provided by the Global Ministries program of the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR).

Every day, thousands of people flee their homes in search of a better life for their families. Global Ministries and UMCOR are committed to providing support for refugees and migrants around the world. This work fulfills the biblical mandate to “love thy neighbor” and “welcome the stranger.” St. Paul’s is one of 50 congregations in the US to have been awarded this grant.

There are several ways to be involved in this project. Anyone that would like to have direct involvement working with the family (shopping, setting up the apartment, welcoming them at the airport, helping them get settled over their 1st 3 months in Tucson) must complete a background check through Tucson Refugee Ministries and complete their 2 hour online training. If you would like to get involved, please email Meredith Jourbert, Director of Family Ministries, for more information.

As the humanitarian relief and development arm of The United Methodist Church, UMCOR assists United Methodists and churches to become involved globally in direct ministry to persons in need.
