Attending a Christian summer camp, such as those hosted by our own Mingus Mountain United Methodist Camp and Retreat Center, has been demonstrated to have a positive impact on a child’s spiritual development and church involvement. So we want to encourage you to invest in your children’s spiritual lives by sending them to camp this summer.
St. Paul’s UMC encourages you to consider registering your elementary and middle school youth to attend Session 1 at Mingus Mountain, the week of June 17–22. If you would like scholarship help, please contact the church office at 520-296-6149. If you want help getting your campers to and from camp, contact the office and we will coordinate a shared ride there.
Rev. Ron Bartlow has said, “To this day, I believe that camp and retreat ministries can and should play a vital role in the discipleship and faith development of followers of Jesus Christ. Summer camp or national weeklong gatherings for kids and youth, weekend retreats for congregation members or families, mission trips for any ages, Walk to Emmaus and The Academy for Spiritual Formation for adults – the experiences in such away-from-home events impact us in numerous ways, helping us to know God’s presence and movement. While I have continued to volunteer and lead, my own children have grown up going to camp and experiencing the faith formation that occurs there.”
