The Lord Is With Me
Today we celebrate the Third Sunday of Advent, where we light the Peace candle. Throughout the gospels of Mark and Matthew, Jesus says to his disciples, “Go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.'” There was something decidedly different about Jesus. When the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, when God became incarnate in Jesus of Nazareth. His ministry and impact were more about mercy, grace, and forgiveness than about justice and vengeance. Jesus came more as the Prince of Peace than the “Lord of Lords.” Rev. Ron Bartlow give the sermon, “The Lord Is With Me”, from Isaiah 61:1-4 and 8-11, and Matthew 1:18-21.
