A Sense of Adventure
From September through November, our worship services follow the “narrative lectionary,” working our way through the larger story of the Old and New Testaments. We reflect on the stories of the Old Testament from Creation through the prophets.
The call “to go” invites us out into the unknown, which can be anxiety-producing. But if we can accept and choose a sense of adventure in that call, it changes from fearful anxiety to expectant eagerness. God called to Abram and set him on a journey, not with full clarity, but with full trust. He promised blessing, and with it, purpose. Rev. Ron Bartlow’s sermon “A Sense of Adventure” is taken from the call of Abram and God’s promise of land, descendants, and blessing as told in Genesis 12:1-9.
