Low in the Grave He Lay
Today is Good Friday. Good Friday confronts us with the darkness of death and uncertainty, aspects of existence we cannot escape from. Even Jesus experienced these moments (though we know and trust that, because of the mystery of resurrection, Jesus triumphs over them). Before the triumph comes the challenge; before the dawn comes the night. Good Friday invites us to recognize this, to sit with it, and not to be afraid. Rev. Ron Bartlow gives the sermon “Low in the Grave He Lay” (John 18:1 to John 19:42).
