In Majesty, Wonder, and Awe
Today we celebrate the First Sunday of Advent, where we light the Hope candle. Advent dawns with a yearning that God would intervene in our world. We ask ourselves questions similar to that of Isaiah’s, “where are you, God?” or, more poignantly, “why does God allow evil things to happen?” The prophet Isaiah, who himself had once experienced a powerful, direct, life-transforming encounter with the living God, lifts a prayer of yearning for God. It is with this yearning for God’s presence that our season of Advent begins. Rev. Ron Bartlow give the sermon, “In Majesty, Wonder, and Awe”, from Isaiah 64:1-9.
