Today is the fourth Sunday of Advent, when we light the Love candle. Our worship series for this Advent season is “Christmas Through the Lens of Hollywood”. In addition to entertaining us, movies can have the ability to touch our hearts. We’ll reflect on how the traditional themes of Advent (Hope, Peace, Joy, Love) are viewed through the lens of some of Hollywood’s favorite Christmas movies. Our lives are marked by love even when our circumstances might prove to the contrary. The humble service of a red-nosed reindeer (“Rudolph, the Red-nosed Reindeer”), of a man sharing with others in need, and that of an unexpected mother, all give us glimpses of the love of God. As we light the fourth candle of Advent, let us reflect on the immense love of our God as we await the arrival of a very special baby. And, may we bring love to every heart this Advent season. Rev.
